Kalie Miller


Hometown: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Position: PYD Staff, Administrative Specialist

Hobbies: Traveling, yoga, hiking, backpacking, camping

Kalie is finishing up her year long AmeriCorps term with us and will be staying on as one of our Youth Development Professional staff members. She started her AmeriCorps term August 2018. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Women & Gender Studies/Sociology degree in 2017. In Kalie’s free time she enjoys hiking, travelling, and doing yoga. Kalie is originally from Michigan but has always longed to live in the mountains, which brought her here! She is very passionate about working with and helping underprivileged youth. Kalie’s favorite thing about working at the Boys & Girls Club of South Park is a program called Positive Action, which focuses on teaching kids about finding happiness and fulfillment in life.

Matt Bauer


Hometown: Fremont, California

Position: PYD Staff, Teen Director

Hobbies: Traveling, spending time outdoors, disc gold, competitive team sports

Matt has been with the Boys & Girls Club since September 2018. Matt loves to travel, hike, and explore. He studied Sociology and Education at Western Michigan University. Matt’s most beloved hobby is to travel. Matt has volunteered at an orphanage in Africa, as well as a school in Colombia. He has a passion for working with at risk youth, particularly adolescents. Matt’s favorite thing about working at the Boys & Girls Club of South Park is being able to experience the creativity and energy that the kids bring every day they’re here.

Emma Coonan


Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

Position: Americorps Service Member

Hobbies: Volleyball, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, scuba diving, jeeping, swimming, traveling, hiking, eating

Emma Coonan is currently our AmeriCorps Youth Professional for a year long term. Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Emma came to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs. She graduated from UCCS with Cum Laude honors, with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Psychology, and a minor in Philosophy. While in college, she worked as a behavioral therapist for children with Autism and other mental disabilities. During her senior year she volunteered at the District Attorney’s office as an advocate for victims of domestic violence. She received a silver presidential award at the DA’s office for her time volunteering. Emma studied abroad in Australia. In her free time she enjoys scuba diving, surfing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, snow-showing, lacrosse, and volleyball. Emma hopes to attend and complete law school at Washington University in St. Louis after completing her AmeriCorps term at the Boys & Girls Club. Emma loves teaching kids programs that involve animals and the environment. She loves being able to make a real difference in the lives of kids.

Callie Edwards

Hometown: Fairplay, Colorado

Position: Assistant Unit Director

Hobbies: Writing, drawing, wire wrapping, hiking, anime, video games

Callie Edwards is the Assistant Unit Director and is in charge of programming and staff coordination. She grew up in Fairplay, Colorado. She is an avid outdoors enthusiast, with an Associates Degree in Environmental Studies and is currently continuing her education to obtain a Bachelors in Geology. She enjoys getting involved within the community, which is why she started the annual noxious weed pull in Fairplay, Colorado. She did a summer AmeriCorps term with  Mosquito Range Heritage Initiative (MRHI) in 2015 and has been on their summer staff since 2016. Her favorite program to do with the Club members is outdoor education type programs. She enjoys teaching the kids about the great outdoors and how to preserve the beautiful World we live in.

Gavin Salee

Hometown: Seattle, Washington

Position: Unit Director

Gavin Salee grew up in Seattle, Washington where he was an active member of a local Boys & Girls Club from ages 6 to 11. He from Washington and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned a BS in Environmental Science with minors in Mathematics and Energy Science. Through college, Mr. Salee worked at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln, where he specialized in program development and worked as the younger member program director. Mr. Salee joined the High Rockies (BGCHR) team in 2015 and under his leadership the South Park Club’s Average Daily Attendance doubled. In addition to his work with the Boys & Girls Club, Mr. Salee is an active member of the Nebraska Army National Guard and is currently serving as Plans Officer for a light Cavalry Squadron in Nebraska. He has always enjoyed working with youth and is driven to cultivate a safe, fun and welcoming culture where youth are excited to learn and grow.
